South Carolina Center for Child Care Career Development (CCCCD)

The Center for Child Care Career Development (CCCCD) is a statewide agency whose mission is to improve the quality of early childhood education in South Carolina through the professional development of early childhood teachers. The center is comprised of four components: The South Carolina Child Care Training System, T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship Program, Early Care and Education Technical Assistance System, and Credentialing System for Early Childhood Education.
- Administers the South Carolina Child Care Training System
- Registry system that documents the required DSS child care training hours through official DSS training transcripts for teachers and directors
- Registers and certifies child care trainers to meet DSS training hour requirements
- Calendar available on website to list certified child care training
- Certified Trainer list includes a list of trainers who meet prescribed standards to ensure training quality based on early childhood best practices and adult learning principles. Contact CCCCD for a current list or if interested in becoming a certified trainer.
- Administers the South Carolina Early Care and Education Technical Assistance System
- Web-based application process to evaluate qualifications for voluntary Certified Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) status

- Administers the T.E.A.C.H. scholarship program.
- Scholarships for teachers, directors, family, and group providers working in child care to earn academic credit and DSS training hours to meet Level A and Level B staff qualification requirements
- Scholarships available for the following courses/degrees at state technical colleges: Early Childhood Development (ECD) 101, School Age Care (SAC) 101, Associate Degree in Early Childhood.
- Scholarships available for a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood at selected colleges/universities
- Administers the South Carolina Credentialing System for Early Childhood Education including:
- South Carolina Early Childhood Credential – course includes ECD 101
- School Age Credential – course includes SAC 101
- Infant Toddler Credential – courses include ECD 101, ECD 102, ECD 200, ECD 205, ECD 207, and ECD 251
- Director Credential – courses include ECD 101, ECD 108, ECD 109, and ECD 201.
- Family Child Care Credential – courses include completion of "There’s No Place Like Home" training modules. Call CCCCD for current class offerings.
